SVOYASI: The Path of Contemporary Russian Art
The State Historical Museum presents SVOYASI: The Path of Contemporary Russian Art, an exhibition exploring national traditions and the ways they are reflected in various forms of contemporary art and decorative arts.
Each year’s theme sets a new direction for reflecting on which images of collective memory come to the surface and gain significance in contemporary life.
I created a musical and sound-based environment for 8 exhibition zones.
Each zone was conceived as a separate musical composition, while at the center of the exhibition space the sounds from all zones merged into a single sonic tapestry.
For the project, custom Arduino-based players were developed to automatically start and stop the music across all zones.

Scope of work:
  • eight musical and sound-based compositions for the exhibition zones;
  • a unified acoustic dramaturgy for the space;
  • development of Arduino players for autonomous playback;
  • integration of sound into the visitor’s museum route.
